Plant-buying questions
Absolutely! When picking & shipping out any plant, there are two broad questions we always seek to answer:

Is this plant healthy?
- To answer this question, we carefully inspect each and every plant for any signs of root rot, pests, disease, unhealthy foliage and unhealthy stems.
- If we find any signs of the above, we do not ship out the plant. No exceptions.
- This level of care and nurture given to each plant takes time, but is a compromise that we absolutely believe in making. We ensure every plant sent out is a happy one that will thrive in its new home, and not harm any other plants.Does this plant look good?
- We tackle this question by asking ourselves two things:
- (1) Would we happily and boldly display this plant in our homes.
- (2) Does this plant look similar to the one displayed online (and thus matching our customers’ expectations)?
- If both questions are a yes, then we ship it out! Having said that, we recognize that aesthetics are naturally subjective so if you’re for any reason unhappy with your plant, we can arrange to collect it with its original packaging within 14 days of receiving it and replace it with a new one.
In short, yes!
Whilst every plant is unique and will have natural variations in colour, shape, and size, we do our best to ensure every plant you receive closely matches what you see online.
The short answer is: in its nursing pot.
Our priority is to get your plant to you as safely as possible and ensure that it flourishes when it gets there.

The most effective way to do this is to deliver your plant to you in its nursing post. Once you receive it, place your plant in the spot you plan to keep it in and leave it there, in its nursing pot, for at least 6 months (ideally 12), allowing it to acclimate to its new environment.

There are some exceptions to this approach, specifically with our range of succulents, that tend to acclimate just fine outside of their nursery pots. So, we’ve gone ahead and repotted those plants for you.
When picking the best plant for you, we suggest starting by asking yourself the following questions:

1. How much light do you have?
A space with lots of bright indirect light will open itself up to more plant-possibility compared to a dark space with lots of shade.

2. How much time do you have?
Some plants can go for 2-3 weeks without any water/attention, whilst others need more frequent care.

3. What style of plant do you like?
Some prefer tree-like plants with large bright leaves, whilst others look for vined plants. It’s purely personal!

Why does my pot have a hole in the bottom?
The holes in the bottom of your pot are drainage holes; they allow excess water to flow out of the pot, preventing it from pooling at the bottom, keeping your plant safe and healthy. They also give you the ability to use decorative pots/planters – as a saucer to catch extra water that drains out.
One of the main causes of plant damage and eventual death is overwatering. More specifically, when excess water pools at the bottom of your pot, your plant’s roots can develop root-rot. Root-rot is a fungus that causes your plant’s roots to decay and rot away, eventually killing it. Root-rot is very difficult for your plant to recover from.
Most of our plants ship in their nursery pot to allow for a safe ride to your doorstep. These nursery pots have drainage holes at the bottom, which significantly helps reduce the risk of overwatering.
Do I have to repot my plant?
In short, no.
Once you receive your plant, place it in the spot you plan to keep it in (whilst still in its nursing pot). Ideally, you would your plant 6 months (if it’s smaller) to 12 months (if it’s large) to acclimate to your home’s temperature and light levels before repotting it.
However, we also recognize (and have experienced!) the excitement of wanting to repot your plant as soon as possible. If you must, then at the very minimum, give your plants 4 weeks to acclimate. It will still get shocked but will have a much higher chance of surviving than if you repotted it immediately.
Once acclimated, you can choose to either repot your plant or leave it in its nursing pot.
Pro tip: as long as there is room for the plant to grow in its nursing pot, you may choose to leave it in their nursing pot beyond the initial 2 months, and place those nursing pots in more decorative pots. Those decorative posts can then act as saucers to catch excess water when watering your plants. (more on that below).
